Choosing a dentist in Melville presents many choices.

Dental Crowns and Bridges

Each dental restoration serves a different purpose when repairing teeth. In most cases, we offer aesthetic tooth-coloured restorations to blend in naturally with your smile. We may recommend a dental crown to repair broken or deeply decayed teeth because they add strength and durability that prolongs the life of your tooth.

We use dental crowns created by a trusted local dental lab to completely cover your tooth above the gumline. When you chew, dental crowns support your tooth by taking most of the force and protecting the structure underneath.

Fillings seal teeth after removing decay and can provide cosmetic reshaping of teeth. Composite, the tooth-coloured material we use to fill teeth, will match the shape and colour of your tooth. Your Melville dentist will apply the composite in layers and harden it with a curing light. The dentist will polish the filling to blend in with the tooth and keep out bacteria.

Onlays and inlays are lab-created restorations that are a hybrid of an indirect filling and a dental crown. They cover a portion of the tooth to repair a fracture or improve the bite.

We will always discuss your restorative options and help you make an informed decision. Whether you need a filling or crown, we welcome you to get in touch with our Melville dental practice.

Dental Implants

We respect the choices our patients make for their oral health and never recommend one treatment over another. Instead, we use technology and patient education to explain dental conditions thoroughly and then discuss each treatment option with their benefits and limitations to help patients make the best decision for their smiles.

Intraoral camera – A small digital camera captures photos of individual teeth or tissue conditions, which we can then show to patients on our treatment room monitors. This helps patients see what our dentists see inside the mouth and can have an impact on their final decision.

Photographs – Using extraoral photographs of how teeth come together, the appearance of the profile, and before-and-after images of possible outcomes, patients can visualise their future smiles.

X-rays – As one of our early diagnosis tools, dental x-rays reveal dental caries (decay), bone loss, infection and fracture, which our dentists can explain to you by going over the images and what they show us about your smile.

We also understand that some patients wish to avoid complex surgeries or have specific budgetary considerations. You will never find our team selling dentistry. We are here to help you have the smile that works best for you.

Preventive and General Dentistry

We warmly welcome children of all ages in our Melville dental clinic and take a special interest in looking after their smiles. Building excellent oral health habits and motivation to keep teeth healthy while children are small will help them enjoy fewer dental problems and avoid tooth loss as adults.

We provide comprehensive paediatric dentistry in a caring and compassionate environment.

Your Child’s First Visit

At your child’s first visit, we help them get to know our team and become familiar with the dental clinic environment. Many of our staff have children and understand how to speak in gentle terms that kids understand.

We take the fear out of dentistry by encouraging their questions and making their visit an interactive experience. Since every patient is unique, including kids, we always go at their pace and will never pressure them to have treatment beyond their comfort or attention spans.

Oral Development and Growth

As children grow, regular exams and cleans will make it possible for our dentists to identify any instances of decay, misalignment or jaw development early when they are easier to treat.

As your little one grows into their teens, we are here to evaluate wisdom teeth and help them feel confident in their smiles as they begin to make their way in the world.

Root Canal Treatment and Extractions

Root canals are designed to get you out of pain, not to cause pain. Essentially, the root canal procedure should be the same experience for the patient as a filling appointment, only slightly longer.

We make every procedure painless and comfortable by using gentle anaesthetic techniques to numb the tooth and nerve before we begin. Because the symptoms of an infected root canal cause inflammation and pain, patients have long associated the procedure with discomfort. We would like to reassure you that you will feel much better after root canal treatment.

Your Meliville dentist will use the latest titanium rotary endodontic instruments to reduce treatment time and provide greater accuracy. Rather than files, small, flexible rotary tips gently remove infected tissue and bacteria from the canals within the tooth.

Your dentist will then place medication to assist your body in the healing process. It is common to feel slight sensitivity for a few days as inflammation decreases. We will then arrange a follow-up visit to check healing and discuss reinforcing your tooth with the proper restoration. Typically, a dental crown will prevent your tooth from fractures.

For gentle root canal procedures from our experienced Melville Family Dental team, we welcome you to contact us. We treat dental emergencies.

Unlike most general and family dental clinics, Melville Family Dental is able to complete advanced oral surgery procedures in-house. Dr Mostafa sought additional training and experience in surgical procedures including dental implant placement and extractions.

At the patient’s request, we offer sedation dentistry to make the overall experience stress and anxiety-free. Oral sedation is our mildest method of sedation. We also offer IV sedation for more profound relaxation.

Our patients appreciate the convenience and comfort of having oral surgery in our Melville dental clinic with a clinical team who has the experience and gentle chairside manner necessary to make surgery a success – both emotionally and physically.

We even provide comfortable wisdom tooth extractions, when necessary. Since we welcome children to our surgery, we will monitor their growth and development through their teen years when wisdom teeth often begin to develop and become symptomatic.

If tooth extraction leaves a gap in your smile, we provide tooth-replacement options, including dental implants, bridges, dentures and implant-supported dentures, to complete your smile.

If you have a dental emergency or believe you need a painful tooth extracted, we welcome you to contact our Melville dental clinic to arrange an appointment.

Sedation Dentistry

Dental anxiety is a common problem for many patients, and it can actually prevent you from seeking the preventive dental care necessary to avoid serious oral health complications and toothache.

Having a fear of the dentist or dental clinic has serious negative health consequences. Our dentists' compassionate natures inspired them to find a solution for all patients – even our most fearful ones – to have healthy smiles.

Sedation dentistry reduces anxiety and increases wellbeing while you are in the chair. We offer both oral sedation and IV sedation dentistry to help patients relax while we look after their smiles.

Sedation dentistry uses medication, either oral or intravenous, to create a relaxed feeling for the duration of your procedure. Though patients remain conscious and can respond to the dentist and our staff, they report having little or no recollection of their procedure, which removes their stress entirely.

Sedation dentistry also helps patients feel completely numb and reduces the urge to gag, which also keeps some patients from seeking treatment. For lengthy procedures, such as full smile makeovers or full mouth rehabilitation, sedation medication makes visits seem quick and easy.
