Veneers

A gorgeous smile can light up a room and impress everyone you meet. Perhaps more important is how you feel knowing that your teeth look nice when you chat with someone new or spend time laughing with a dear friend.

Our dentists offer conservative cosmetic dentistry options or an entirely new look. It all depends on you and how you envision your dream smile.

What Are Veneers?

Veneers cover the front of your existing teeth with durable ceramic restorations.

  • Eliminate gaps between teeth
  • Restore length and cover flaws
  • Correct the appearance of minor misalignment
  • Improve the colour of stained or dark teeth

Patients can choose to cover one tooth or to improve their entire smile with 6 to 8 veneers.

Planning for Success

Cosmetic dentistry combines art and science. Science provides the foundation for comfortable, long-lasting dentistry, and artistry offers the look that you’re after.

When describing the cosmetic dentistry process, Dr Mostafa, Dr Yousr and Dr Aus compare tooth restoration to properly designing the foundation of a building. Without a sturdy foundation, the entire structure crumbles. In dentistry, precise planning is necessary for exceptional and stable results.

  • Photography and digital planning to assist with design
  • Use of tooth moulds and dental wax to design a ‘try-in’ smile
  • Discussion of colour and shading to match natural teeth

The smile design process will help determine the number of veneers, length and shape to correct multiple cosmetic concerns at once.

If patients want an overall brighter appearance to their smiles, we may recommend professional teeth whitening prior to beginning restorative dentistry for bright results.

Dental Veneer Process

Because he values conservative treatment whenever possible, we offer minimal preparation of natural teeth by polishing the enamel to make space for veneers. Impressions and moulds of teeth will provide the dental lab with the information they need to create custom veneers just for your smile.

Each veneer is a tiny sculpture that looks like the front of a natural tooth. With realistic shading and translucency, no one will notice you have veneers, just that your smile looks stunning.

Temporary veneers will cover your teeth until your final restorations arrive and your dentist will permanently bond them to your teeth.

Caring for Dental Veneers

Dental veneers cover teeth individually, so keeping them clean is similar to caring for natural teeth. Ceramic veneers are durable, much like your tooth enamel, but not indestructible. Avoid biting into hard candy, ice or anything that might chip a natural tooth because it can also fracture your veneers.

If you grind your teeth at night, a nightguard can prevent wear and breaking the veneers off of your teeth.
